Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

The Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) is an adult medical day unit based at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) campus providing care to same day admitted patients and elective bookings requiring overnight inpatient admission post procedure. ACC provides care to patients requiring:

  • Care for pre and post interventional procedures
  • Complex intravenous infusions
  • Specialised vascular access care for both central and peripheral vascular access devices
  • Specific endocrine testing
  • Ward based invasive procedures

The centre provides intravenous and subcutaneous treatment regimens and diagnostic tests for patients.  ACC administers a broad range of complex infusions these include but are not limited to:

  • intravenous immunoglobulins
  • cytotoxic medications for non-cancer indications
  • monoclonal antibodies
  • enzyme replacement therapies
  • blood products

Procedures performed within ACC and in conjunction with external stakeholders such as the Department of Medical Imaging, Rehabilitation, Neurology, Gastroenterology, and Cardiology Departments include but are not limited:

  • ascitic and pleural paracentesis
  • lumbar punctures
  • intrathecal baclofen pump refills
  • transoesophageal echocardiograms (TOE) & direct current cardioversion (DCR)
  • cerebral and vascular angiograms
  • biopsies and image guided insertion and removal of vascular access devices.

The Role:

  1. Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.
  2. Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills and the ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  3. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting.
  4. Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
