Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital and is the tertiary referral centre in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Pathology South is owned by Tasmanians and forms part of the Pathology Services at the Royal Hobart Hospital, including inpatient and outpatient services. We are the only Tasmanian owned and run pathology service operating in and around Hobart. 

The Role:

  1. Leads and manages the coordination of patient/client care within Pathology South in accordance with best practice principles and within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework.
  2. Provides leadership in contemporary nursing practice and promotes an environment conducive to innovation and change.
  3. Manages the financial, physical and human resources of Pathology South to achieve agreed service outcomes within the allocated budget.
  4. Monitors, manages and reports on the nursing performance and activity levels within Pathology South.
  5. Monitors and manages staff performance and development.
  6. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
  7. The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and experience in pathology related services.
  2. Individuals will demonstrate capability to promote a shared vision and purpose, and positively influence others (internally and externally) to ensure optimal client outcomes and build a culture of success, commitment and active contribution by all staff within the practice area.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $122,365 to $129,060 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
