Job description:

Department of Health have an exciting permanent full time opportunity available for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Community Mental Health Services North team, based in Launceston. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this role will deliver high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

Adult Community Mental Health Services North (AMHSN) is looking to add to our positive leadership group by appointing a positive, vibrant and grounded Senior Occupational Therapist (Senior OT) for our Northern Team. The Senior OT will support the ACMHS North Team Leader and Clinical Lead to develop and promote positive work culture throughout our community and inpatient services. As part of our community senior leadership team, we are looking for a leader who has the following:

As a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, the Senior OT is a key leadership role for our service.  The role is responsible for the quality of clinical OT services in AMHSN and is expected to take the lead in OT ongoing service development, intersectoral liaison, be responsible for the operation of OT services within ACMHS, and contribute to strategic planning, policy review and development and evaluation of OT services.  Clinically, the role provides specialist OT assessment, treatment, and case management utilising evidence-based, best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework. The occupant is expected to offer coaching and supervision to non-Senior OTs in AMHSN and act as a consultant to other agencies and services outside and within AMHSN, regarding the support and management of clients with mental health needs.

Details of Appointment

Permanent position working 76 hours per fortnight. *notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $120,114 - $130,181 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Please note that access to salaries beyond $126,845 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: 

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia
  2. Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

  1. Holds, or is progressing towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications
  2. Current Driver’s Licence
