Job description:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Mental Health Acute Care Stream, will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care, in accordance with the National Standards for Mental Health Services, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

The role:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Mental Health Acute Care Stream, will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care, in accordance with the National Standards for Mental Health Services, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies. 

  • Works in partnership with the Clinical Nurse Consultant, the Nurse Practitioner, the Allied Health Senior Acute Care Stream and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care on a designated shift, based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • Provides responsive community-based mental health care to consumers, which includes triage, comprehensive mental health assessments, assertive, short-term care coordination, safety planning, ongoing psychotherapeutic work using arrange of modalities and techniques, transfer of care / discharge planning, in collaboration with consumers, families and friends, within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).

The team: Acute Care Team

  • The Acute Care Team (ACT) is specifically designed to provide triage, assessment, and short-term care and treatment in the community for a period of up to 6 weeks. 
  • The ACT primarily focuses on the acute care needs of individuals newly referred to the service. 
  • The ACT is operational seven days a week between 08:30 to 22:00

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time shift-worker (fully rotational) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications
  2. Previous experience in leadership roles
