About the Role:
The LGH Perioperative Medicine Registrar is an essential member of the Department of Surgery’s Perioperative Medicine Unit, who provide perioperative care to surgical patients at Launceston General Hospital. Working under the supervision of Perioperative Physicians, you will be engaged in clinical assessment, patient management, and cross-specialty collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment. This role offers a unique opportunity for professionals from anaesthesia, medicine, or intensive care backgrounds to gain specialized experience in perioperative medicine, with the potential for this to be counted towards vocational training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical assessments and manage patients within the Perioperative Medicine Unit.
- Participate in outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and contribute to research and quality assurance initiatives.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams and oversee residents, with responsibilities including discharge planning and administrative duties.
Essential Requirements:
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Current Working with Children Registration (if applicable).
- Over 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience in related fields is preferred.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 3 February 2025 until 1 February 2026
Registrars only: You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary:
Registrars
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $131,000 - $183,500 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
