The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) vacancies in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Royal Hobart Hospital.

The Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) is located within the Royal Hobart Hospital which is the major teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania (Faculty of Health Sciences), and is the State referral centre for cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, burns, hyperbaric and diving medicine, neonatal & paediatric intensive care and high risk obstetrics.


$84,496 to $88,423 per annum in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service Agreement) 2016

Period of Employment

Permanent part-time/full-time shift work (fully rotational) (set rotational), working at least 64 hours per fortnight.


Department of Critical Care Medicine


The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice.  In the role you will:

  • work in partnership with the NUM and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • assist the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day patient care activities, including patient flow.

Essential Requirements

  •  Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:
1.  Conviction checks in the following areas:
a)  Crimes of Violence
b)  Sex Related Offences
c)  Serious Drug Offences
d)  Crimes involving dishonesty
2.  Identification check
3.  Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications
