Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an enthusiastic Career Medical Officer - Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our team.
The maternity unit, housing the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, is located at North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) in Burnie. There are approximately 1000 births annually and staffing includes experienced midwives. High risk births are managed in conjunction with the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) supported by the local endocrinology and diabetic teams.
The outreach services are located at picturesque regional centres which include the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) in Latrobe, West Coast District Hospital, Smithton District Hospital and King Island District Hospital and Health Centre (via scenic flights for those interested).
The successful candidate will provide diagnosis, treatment and care for public patients servicing a population of approximately 116,000. The unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8 bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.
Current senior staffing includes five full-time Staff Specialists and 1 part-time VMO. The NWRH is RANZCOG accredited for 2 core trainees. The on-call requirement is a 1 in 5. The CMO will be involved with rostering, departmental policy and protocols, education and general organisation of the RANZCOG trainees and JMO’s supporting the unit.
*Please note to be eligible to apply a minimum of 10 year post graduate experience is required.
