The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Senior Physiotherapist vacancies at Peacock 1.

Peacock 1 is a newly developed Rehabilitation Ward at the Repatriation Centre.  It is specifically designed to service patients in the ‘step-down’ phase of their rehabilitation journey, prior to planned discharge.  The Ward is designed to service geriatric, early stage palliative, bariatric, non-weight bearing and rehabilitation patients in a sub-acute setting.  This is a new service initiative of the Tasmanian Health Service (THS).


$88,192 to $98,170 per annum

Period of Employment

Fixed term full-time day work, working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing 12 June 2018 until 11 June 2019.

Flexible working arrangements allows for the vacancy to be filled by more than one person.

Fixed term casual day work, working on an as and when required basis for 12 months.


Physiotherapy Services; Rehabilitation Team located at the Repatriation Centre.


In the role of Senior Physiotherapist you will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to assist in development and establishment of the working service to this ward.  You will additionally provide optimal evidence based physiotherapy care to these THS-South patients as they progress along their healthcare journey.

Within the Tasmanian Health Services Framework and in accordance with Agency Policy and Procedures the Senior Physiotherapist (Peacock 1) will, within the Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Team and/or other specified areas of the THS-South, perform the duties inclusive of:

  • provision of high level, collaborative, patient centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • assist in the coordination of services and service development specifically within the Rehabilitation Team, and across the RHH Physiotherapy Department; including direct support of the Rehabilitation Team Leader
  • clinically supervise junior Physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants (AHAs), and physiotherapy and/or AHA students, as required
  • attend to all aspects of non-clinical service management and personal development, including engagement in Team, Department and personal Professional Development avenues

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:
1.  Conviction checks in the following areas:
a)  Crimes of Violence
b)  Sex Related Offences
c)  Serious Drug Offences
d)  Crimes involving dishonesty
2.  Identification check
3.  Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Post graduate qualifications, or working toward this in the identified clinical area
