Who are we looking for?

We are seeking to recruit a Nurse Practitioner who is passionate, motivated and enjoys working collaboratively with a team of health professionals in what can be a demanding and high paced environment.

Your work environment will be a brand new state-of-the-art 20 bed Department of Emergency Medicine that includes a short stay ward, dedicated paediatric area, six acute beds and two well equipped resuscitation bays.  Additionally, a "Fast Track" model of care which ensures eligible patients are managed promptly assisting with the overall patient flow and efficiency through the department.  The NP role focuses on client care through the Fast Track area however the scope is not specifically limited to this model, we support prior skills and knowledge and expanded scope is encouraged when the departmental demands are required.

As the successful candidate you will have demonstrated extensive clinical experience as well as the ability to apply knowledge of education and research strategies, quality improvement activities and the process of risk and change management in the multidisciplinary team approach to emergency nursing care and staff learning needs.  Advanced communication, interpersonal and motivation skills are key attributes to successfully fulfil this role. 

You will be prepared to contribute your professional competencies to improve clinical service outcomes and continued delivery of a high standard of quality patient care.  You will work with a professional team of experienced nurse practitioners, nurses and doctors.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have at least two (2) years’ experience in emergency as a qualified Nurse Practitioner.

We will provide you with a dedicated non-clinical  area within the department for your allocated non-clinical time and provide you with the ability to advance your skills and knowledge through ongoing professional development opportunities. We also support and encourage time spent to the contribution to research of which your role requires.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and endorsed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:
  1. Conviction checks in the following areas: a) Crimes of Violence, b) Sex Related Offences, c) Serious Drug Offences, d) Crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
